The Virginia Tidewater Consortium for Higher Education (VTC) is a consortium of thirteen institutions of higher education, including four community colleges, four public colleges and universities, four private and a National Defense University.
Our Mission:
The Virginia Tidewater Consortium helps develop and share ideas, information, programs and resources to achieve its goals, which include promoting cooperation and collaboration among its member institutions to serve the people of the Tidewater region through higher education and related services.
The VTC functions independently of any one institution to serve all its members.
Established in 1973, the Virginia Tidewater Consortium enhances the educational opportunities for nearly 150,000 students currently attending our member institutions.
The purpose of the Consortium is to coordinate and facilitate higher education services in the Tidewater region in order to provide maximum educational opportunities for the citizens of the area.
The Virginia Tidewater Consortium for Higher Education (VTC) sponsors the federally-funded TRIO-Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) providing free academic, vocational, career and financial aid information to any resident of Hampton Roads pursuing postsecondary education.
Since 1979, VTC's EOC has served over 130,000 clients in Hampton Roads.
