VTC's Educational Opportunity Center (EOC)

The Virginia Tidewater Consortium for Higher Education (VTC) sponsors the federally-funded TRIO-Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) providing free academic, vocational, career and financial aid information to first generation college students wishing to pursue a college degree.

Since 1979, VTC's EOC has served over 100,000 clients in Hampton Roads. The VTC's TRIO-Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is a community-based program with support from secondary, postsecondary, community and government agencies.

The VTC's EOC provides the following services:

  • Academic advice and assistance in course selection
  • Assistance in completing college admission and financial aid applications
  • Guidance on entering a GED program
  • Career assessment, exploration, counseling and workshops 
  • Financial aid workshops and counseling services 
  • Loan default counseling
  • Interest/aptitude testing
  • Personal counseling and referral services
  • Scholarship Search
  • Veteran Educational Services

For appointments at all Southside locations call the Main Office at 683-2312. Southside includes: Chesapeake, Norfolk, Franklin, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach.

For appointments at Peninsula locations call the Peninsula Office at (757) 926-6107. Peninsula includes: Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg and York County.
